City of Edinburg To Continue Online Learning in Fall

The Edinburg City Council has voted to prohibit in-person instruction for the Fall 20-21 school year.

Edinburg Mayor Richard Molina stated in a press release that “we want to make sure our children are healthy, while receiving the top-notch education they deserve.”

Councilmember Jorge Salinas said “as much as I wish we could keep everyone at home, including teachers, administrators and other staff, that’s ultimately a decision the school board has to make.”

The vote comes after the Texas Education Agency mandated that Texas public school districts must reopen campuses in order to receive state funding.
